What is SSC CPO?
SSC CPO (Central Police Organisations) recruits Sub-Inspectors for Delhi Police and the Central Armed Police Forces (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB), and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (CISF) through a competitive exam and physical process.
It is a graduate-level entry into a uniformed officer-rank post in the police and paramilitary β a prestigious choice for aspirants who want both government security and a uniform service career.
Selection involves a written Paper I, physical fitness and standards tests, Paper II (English), and a medical examination. Because physical preparation matters equally alongside written exam, starting fitness training early is essential.
SSC CPO Sub-Inspector salary is at Pay Level 6 (βΉ35,400ββΉ1,12,400 basic). Gross in-hand pay after DA, HRA, special allowance, and uniform allowance is approximately βΉ55,000ββΉ65,000 in metro cities.

Strategy
How to prepare for SSC CPO
01Train for PET simultaneously with Paper I prep
Start physical training (100m sprint, long jump, 4 km run) from day 1 of preparation. Many Paper I qualifiers fail PET because they ignored fitness.
02English Paper II carries full weightage
Paper II (200 marks English) is counted equally with Paper I in the final merit. Dedicate 1 hour daily to English β reading comprehension, error detection, and vocabulary.
03Master General Awareness
CPO Paper I has 50 GK questions out of 200. Static GK (Indian Constitution, Geography, history) and 6-month current affairs both appear regularly.
