What is SSC Stenographer?
SSC Stenographer recruits Grade C (Group B Gazetted) and Grade D (Group C Non-Gazetted) stenographers for central ministries, departments, and attached/subordinate offices.
It is open to 12th-pass candidates and combines a computer-based written test with a stenography skill test β dictation at 100 WPM (Grade C) or 80 WPM (Grade D) followed by transcription on a computer.

How to prepare for SSC Stenographer
01Treat English as your main subject
English carries 50% of CBT marks. Focus on comprehension, error detection, vocabulary, and sentence improvement. A strong English foundation wins SSC Steno.
02Practice stenography alongside CBT prep
Many candidates ignore steno practice until the CBT result and then scramble. Practice dictation and transcription daily β speed takes months to build.
03Target Grade C from the start
Grade C posts (Parliament, PMO) are significantly better than Grade D. Prepare at Grade C level (100 WPM) even if you're targeting Grade D.
